Mr. Mike Bright
Mike Bright, a native of Gadsden, Alabama, is the newly appointed band director at Pepperell High School. Mr. Bright comes to Pepperell with 27 years of teaching experience in which bands under his direction have consistently received superior ratings, won numerous best-in-class and sweepstake awards, and have performed in numerous national venues. Prior to retiring from Alabama in 2014, Mr. Bright taught at Elba High School (1990-1993), Arab High School (1993-1995), Hazel Green High School (1995-1999), and Glencoe High School (1999-2014). Most recently he has taught at Arthur Williams Middle School in Jesup, Georgia (2014-2016).
He is a 1985 graduate of Emma Sansom High School in Gadsden, Alabama and a 1989 graduate of Jacksonville State University where he was a section leader and soloist with the world renowned Marching Southerners. While at JSU, he studied trombone with Dr. James Roberts.
Mr. Bright is active as a marching band music arranger, drill designer, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the southeast. He is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Georgia Music Educators Association, National Band Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
He is married to Janet Fincher Bright of Thomson, Georgia; has two daughters Abbi (16) and Gracie (12), and has a 7-year-old dachshund named Boomer. Mr. Bright is an avid fan of high school and college football, but is a die-hard Alabama fan. In his spare time, he likes to fish and play guitar.
